Last night we had our first Young Women in Excellence program since I have been put into the yw program and I just wanted to say it was fantastic! Unfortunately, even though my camera was in my purse, I forgot to take pictures - ugh. It was titled, "An Evening With Our Stars" based on a Academy Awards type event with all the young women being filmed about their individual projects, put on a dvd with graphic/music and shown on a gigantic screen. We used no overhead lights in the room - just white christmas lights and some giant lit christmas stars scattered about, everything was simply decorated with black, silver & gold using the table rounds to sit at, we had a lit runway up to the podium complete with the famous Nielsen wedding path markers (these have been used so much all over the stake since we created them two years ago for Kelsy's wedding), and two beautiful presenters which were the two girls (Kayla being one of them) that put the program together and did a ton of work for a project of their own. They handed out cheap party store little trophys that Ric made look fancy by mounting them on little chunks of pvc pipe painted black which were then mounted on black foamcore complete with a label of each girls name and the value they did their project under. It was a great night and I have great Young Women!
Ok, the little piece of shameless fluff (I refuse to count the other decorating as fluff but necessary once-a-year decorating) we had was a suspended chandelier from the basketball hoop - oh so mormon - above our appetizer table which had some nice delectables on silver trays. Without the lights on, you didn't seem to notice the basketball hoop above and it was quite stunning nontheless!

Michelle- Blogging is fun... can be addicting...YW in Excellence sounded amazing. Question: How is Chanelle at public speaking? I am looking for youth in our stake that have great presence and inflection, and I thought she might fit that description.
